Vaccinations and travel health

Routine and seasonal vaccines for all ages, immunization records for school or work, and advice before you travel abroad.

What it is

Vaccines protect you and the people around you. We give routine vaccines for children, teenagers and adults, seasonal vaccines such as the yearly flu shot, and the vaccines that are recommended before some trips.

For travel health, your provider looks at where you are going, for how long, what you will be doing and your own health, and then explains which vaccines, medicines and precautions are worth considering. Book your travel visit four to six weeks before you leave if you can.

What to expect at the visit

  1. A nurse checks your vaccine record, or helps you find it, and asks about allergies and your health today.

  2. Your provider explains which vaccines are due and what to expect afterward. You decide which to have.

  3. The shot takes a few seconds. We ask you to wait about 15 minutes afterward in case of a reaction.

  4. You receive an updated record, and we send the details to the state immunization registry if you agree.

  5. For travel visits, you receive a written summary with advice for your trip.

How to prepare

  • Bring your vaccine record, or the names of previous clinics, so we can find your history.
  • Wear a short sleeve or a top that rolls up easily.
  • Tell us about any allergies, a recent illness, pregnancy or a weak immune system before the shot.
  • For travel, bring your trip dates, places you will visit and what you plan to do there.
  • Bring any school, camp, work or visa forms that need a signature.

Questions about vaccinations and travel health

Do I need an appointment for a flu shot?

Yes, but it is quick. Choose a 20 minute vaccination visit on the booking page. Flu shots are usually available from early autumn.

How early should I book before a trip?

Four to six weeks before you leave is best, because some vaccines need more than one dose. If your trip is sooner, still come. Your provider will tell you what is useful in the time you have.

Can you complete a school or work immunization form?

Yes. Bring the form to your visit, or upload it to the patient portal in advance. Simple forms take a few minutes during the visit. Longer ones may take up to three business days.

Do you keep a record of my vaccines?

Yes. Every vaccine we give is recorded in your chart and visible in the patient portal. With your agreement, we also report it to the state immunization registry.

Prefer to talk to a person?

Our front desk can book, change or cancel an appointment, answer questions about your visit and set up a time with an interpreter.
