Service
Planning for pregnancy, regular prenatal checkups, screening and tests, and postpartum visits, with a team you get to know.
Prenatal care means regular visits during pregnancy so that you and your baby stay well. Your provider checks your health and the baby's growth, offers tests, answers your questions and helps you get ready for the birth.
At Alder Health we provide care before pregnancy, through pregnancy and after the baby arrives. Births take place at a hospital. Your provider will talk with you about where you want to give birth and will share your records with that hospital team.
At your first visit we confirm the pregnancy, work out a due date, review your health and medicines and offer blood tests.
Visits are usually about once a month early on and more often near the end. Your provider sets the schedule that fits you.
At most visits a nurse checks your blood pressure and weight, and your provider listens to the baby's heartbeat and measures growth.
Your provider explains each test, when it is offered and what the results can and cannot tell you.
After the birth, we see you for a postpartum visit to check your recovery, your mood and your next steps for care.
